I worked with kids five times a week, handing out lunches and organizing various activities. It was fun to engage in games and talk to the kids.
I participated in this program when I was younger so it was nice to give back.
What I wish was different
I wish some of the lunches that the Renton School district made were healthier, less processed sugary snacks like crackers and juice and more fruit and protein rich snacks.
Advice
Be prepared for chaotic and very dull moments. At times there were over 60 kids at the site which made things kind of difficult to manage. Other times, there was only 8 kids which made it hard to engage in the activities my coworkers and I planned.
