Position Overview
Helix Neuropsychiatric Center is hiring a Psychiatry/TMS Medical Assistant to join our innovative mental health team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience, or pre-med pathways.
You’ll work directly with our psychiatrists and receive full training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) — a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment for depression and OCD. Gain valuable hands-on clinical experience while making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Administer TMS therapy under physician supervision and in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor and document patient responses, noting clinical progress or adverse reactions.
- Assist with psychiatric assessments, including patient intake, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and QIDS-SR16 rating scales.
- Prepare treatment rooms, assist during evaluations, and maintain clinical equipment.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule psychiatric and TMS appointments.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) for treatments and patient interactions.
- Educate patients about TMS, ensuring comfort, understanding, and informed consent.
- Support insurance verification and prior authorizations as needed, working closely with the billing team.
Patient Care & Collaboration
- Collaborate with the psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team to deliver personalized care.
- Build supportive rapport with patients, offering empathy and reassurance throughout treatment.
- Contribute to a respectful, healing, and welcoming clinic environment.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred fields: Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or related areas.
Experience & Interests
- Strong interest in mental health, behavioral sciences, or pre-medical training.
- Ideal for applicants planning graduate study in mental health or medicine.
Training
- Prior TMS experience is not required. Comprehensive training will be provided upon hire.
Additional Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred (can be obtained post-hire).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
