UW Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Life. We provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. UW Recreation serves over one million students, faculty, and staff each academic year through informal and formal recreation, including fitness and sports classes, intramural and club sports, outdoor education, mindfulness programs, and more.

Job Description
Under the supervision of the Aquatics and Safety Manager as well as supported by leadership of Lifeguard/First Aid Leads, Lifeguard/First Aids are responsible for the safety of patrons at the IMA pool. Lifeguard/First Aid play a significant role in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for patrons.
Examples of duties include but are not limited to:
Actively scanning the pool during open recreation and programming
Preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies
Responding to first aid injuries inside and outside the IMA during open hours
Enforce pool and facility rules
Setting up and taking down for pool programming
Cleaning facilities and equipment as necessary; cleaning potentially infectious materials
Working with other Recreation staff for first aid prevention and response

Minimum Qualifications
University of Washington matriculated student
Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates)
