Advertising Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer will work in the Advertising Department for the Office of Student Publications (which includes The Daily, Husky Media Group, and HUA Voice). The Graphic
Designer reports directly to the Sales Manager and will learn how to expand their design, communication, organizational, and people skills in a collaborative working environment. Though hours for this position vary per week depending on our production calendar and special projects, expect to work 10-15 hours per week. This is a part-time job that may require you to come into the office two or three times a week during the summer and once a week during the school year. Some work may be done remotely. Only undergraduate and graduate students who will be students for the 2025-2026 school years may apply.
The advertising department of the Office of Student Publications is currently working in person in the Communications building.
General Duties
The Graphic Designer will work with the Sales Manager in the Advertising Department to create special editions, plus design, layout, and review ads that will be placed in weekly issues, special sections, and digital editions.
Specific Duties
The Advertising Graphic Designer must complete the following responsibilities on a weekly basis:
- Design ads for clients based on their specifications (using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Design promotional materials for the Office of Student Publications’ projects and initiatives (using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Review ad files submitted by clients to ensure they meet specifications
- Review classified ads that have been submitted for every weekly issue
- Take creative initiative to start new projects and develop new products
- Other design-oriented work for The Daily, Husky Media Group, and HUA Voice
Compensation
$20.76 hourly base salary
