Counseling Center Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Job Description

The Counseling Center is seeking one UW Seattle student with experience and an interest in marketing and communications-related work for an on-campus job with the UW Counseling Center. The Counseling Center Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for a wide variety of multi-modal marketing and communications needs, including social media strategy, execution, and community management; website content planning and updates; creating and contributing to content for social media, blogs, and event-related communications; as well as supporting other marketing and communications-related work. The coordinator will work with Counseling Center and UW Student Life staff and stakeholders across campus in support of our core values of supporting student persistence and engagement with their Husky Experience.

  • Pay rate: $20.76 per hour.
  • Hours: Typically 7-9 hours per week; Maximum 19.5 hours per week.
  • Anticipated start/duration: ASAP through end of academic year 2025-26, with possibility to extend.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Counseling Center’s social media channels, including content creation and design, monitoring analytics, and community management;
  • Manage and help maintain social media marketing calendar;
  • Maintain and update content on the Counseling Center’s web presences;
  • Provide graphic design for social media posts and other promotional collateral;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Student Life partners and various social media contributors;
  • Maintain communication with supervisors for project updates, assignments, and progress reports, including regular check-ins;
  • Provide general support for marketing and communications initiatives;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiarity with WordPress or comparable website/content management systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and follow through on tasks, deadlines, and commitments;
  • Organized and attentive to detail; proven dedication to accuracy in each task performed;
  • Consistently responsive and professional in all communications and interactions.
  • Experience and proficiency using social media (required: Facebook and Instagram);
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills, and experience writing for a variety of audiences and media;
  • Basic familiarity and experience with graphic design;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take initiative;
  • Ability to think creatively and move ideas into action.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media channels for organizations/businesses/brands;
  • Experience working in WordPress and basic HTML;
  • Expertise with graphic design software (ideally Adobe suite) and experience creating collateral/assets for social media;
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and interest in campus involvement; familiarity with major events, happenings, and initiatives around campus;
  • Ability to understand, articulate, and learn issues of cultural competency, inclusion, and equity;
  • Previous and current coursework in Marketing, Communications, or related courses.
