Position Summary
The Event and Program Student Manager will lead CIRCLE’s large events, oversee regional mixers, and manage the CIRCLE of Friends (CoF) program. This role combines event planning with peer supervision and requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to fostering community for international students at UW.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Large-Scale Cultural Events
- Plan, coordinate, and execute CIRCLE’s major events (100–300+ attendees), including Diwali and Lunar New Year.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to assist with event execution.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, performers, volunteers, and UW partners to ensure smooth operations.
2. Oversee Regional Mixers
- Help RSO’s plan biweekly cultural mixers in Autumn Quarter for specific world regions (e.g., Latin America, Africa, Europe).
- Coordinate and communicate with cultural RSOs to plan food, space, agenda, and promotion for each event.
3. Manage the CIRCLE of Friends (CoF) Program
- Supervise three Peer Advisors (PAs) who host weekly CoF events on Tuesdays and Fridays.
- Provide guidance on event planning and student engagement strategies.
- Support a variety of activities including resource sessions, holiday celebrations, and casual hangouts.
Supervision
This position reports directly to the CIRCLE Executive Director and will work collaboratively with the broader student staff team.
Ideal Candidate
- In their third or fourth year of their undergraduate degree, or pursuing a graduate degree
- Strong event planning and organizational skills
- Experience working with international and/or culturally diverse student communities
- Confident communicator and team leader
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Reliable and self-initiating
