Mechanical Engineering Intern

Calyxo, Inc. was founded in February 2016 in collaboration with leading U.S. urologists who recognized the profound need for improved kidney stone treatment. Kidney stone disease is a common problem that is painful and consumes vast amounts of healthcare resources each year. We are focused on delivering innovative solutions to better meet the needs of kidney stone patients and transform the care of this condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with persistence to solve an engineering problem related to kidney stone treatment
  • Partner with an engineer to design and prototype parts and fixtures
  • Perform mechanical testing and data analysis
  • Troubleshoot prototype devices
  • Participate in engineering builds
  • Implement drawing updates, prepare test protocols and reports
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and other functional areas to design and develop processes
  • Assist in development, testing, and manufacturing of new products
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or current junior/senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present your ideas and results to an audience of mixed backgrounds
  • Eagerness to learn and accept challenges
  • Ability to solve problems and analyze data
  • Ability to think and work independently and in teams
  • Required software skills - SolidWorks, Microsoft Office
  • Preferred skills - 3D printing, basic understanding of (completed coursework in) fluid dynamics
  • Required soft skills - communication, teamwork, creativity, problem solving, attention to detail, ability to execute on instructions, willingness to try and fail, persistence
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds, sit for up to 8 hours/day
  • Compliant with relevant county, state, and federal rules regarding vaccinations
