UW Food Pantry Shift Lead & Social Media Manager 

 

Department/Program Description  

 

The Division of Student Life serves as a hub for a variety of programs, services, facilities and operations designed to enrich the Husky Experience. Since 2016, the Office of the Vice President for Student Life (OVPSL) has led Any Hungry Husky, a collaboration of campus services aimed at reducing the negative impact food insecurity can have on student success. The UW Food Pantry provides students, staff, and faculty with access to shelf-stable, non-perishable goods, fresh produce, and community resources.

Job Description  

The UW Food Pantry is seeking a Shift Lead & Social Media Manager to support the daily operations of the pantry and manage social media efforts. 

 

Pay rate: $23   

 

Hours: Negotiable, 10-12 hours per week   

 

Supervision: Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Life; daily support from the student manager for the UW Food Pantry.  

 

Position may become work study eligible  

 

Responsibilities: Shift Lead 

Serve as a shift lead during opening hours at the UW Food Pantry  

Oversee shift volunteers and restocking of shelves 

Manage check-in/out process for shoppers  

Provide excellent customer service  

Ensure opening and closing duties are completed  

Ensure adherence to all pantry policies, processes, and food safety standards 

Attend weekly team meetings 

 

Responsibilities: Social Media Manager 

Shoot photos for social media purposes 

Post 3-4 grid posts per week promoting the pantry, utilizing Canva 

Post stories to social media as relevant  

Create other media sources, such as videos, pamphlets, and posters 

Create and maintain positive partnerships with other groups including but not limited to: ASUW OGR, RSOs, UW Recycling, Greek life, CIRCLE, Q Center, and outside businesses 

Utilize survey responses for posts and crafting new surveys 

Manage other miscellaneous projects as needed or directed
