Technical Field Readiness Architect, New University Graduate

The Field Readiness and Consulting teams for the new, innovative Workday Student product have joined forces to provide a valuable transition program for those who are soon to graduate from university or have recently graduated within 1 year. The first year of this program will be dedicated to training and gaining product knowledge with the Technical Field Readiness team before transitioning to become an integrations consultant with the Consulting team in the second year of this program and beyond. This position is based in Pleasanton, CA for the first 1-1.5 years.

Technical Field Readiness (Year 1)
As an Associate Technical Field Readiness Architect, you will have primary responsibility for the successful delivery of Workday technical implementation tooling to the consulting ecosystem for our new Workday Student product (for universities and colleges). You will manage the development of technical implementation tools, guidelines, and best practices in the consulting ecosystem and are responsible for making sure the consulting ecosystem has the business tools and knowledge to be successful.  Applicants must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to learn the perspective to understand, balance, adapt, and articulate the overall product vision as it relates to individual implementation needs.

Areas of Responsibility:
  • Attain a functional, working knowledge of the Workday Student product  
  • Get fully trained and develop expertise in the technical tools used to support the  Workday Student product
  • Build relationships within the team, with other Workday teams (such as Product Management, Application Development, Quality Assurance, Pre-Sales, etc.), and with consultants (both within Workday and at external partner firms)
  • Collaborate with teams to create and improve technical tools, implementation guides, solutions, and best practices to support consultants
  • Plan and promote ongoing knowledge sharing on new and emerging product functionality by hosting knowledge sharing and alignment calls and developing and providing training and bootcamps to consultants

Technical Consulting (Year 2+)
The Workday Associate Technical Consultant role works on project teams to help Workday customers implement our emerging and rapidly growing Workday Student product. The Technical  Consultant role offers an exciting opportunity to work with new Workday Student customers to gather requirements and design technical solutions.

Areas of Responsibility:
  •  Work with a  team to gather and analyze customer business requirements and implement Student Information Systems solutions
  • Design, implement, and deploy integration, reporting, security and/or data load solutions to the Workday cloud across Workday’s Student Information Systems products
  • Apply Workday’s Integration, reporting, security and/or data load methodology on customer project teams to help customers achieve a high degree of success and satisfaction with Workday’s products
  • Apply Workday’s various integration, reporting, security and/or data load technologies and techniques to a wide variety of Workday Implementation Projects 

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Business analysis and requirements gathering abilities.
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Aptitude and ability to learn new technologies and technical skills.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, fast-growth, high-energy environment and deal with multiple high priority activities concurrently.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organization skills.
  • Desire to work in a customer facing role.

Desirable skills:

  • Exposure to programming languages like XSLT, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, or other 
  • Coursework in analytical or critical thinking subjects (Management Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.)
  • SOAP and/or REST based Web Services
  • Ability to travel 10-30% in the first year and 50% in the years following.
