Research Industrial Hygienist

The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional industrial hygiene scientific support and expertise for designing and conducting research focused on identifying, analyzing, and reporting on emerging industrial hygiene health issues and problems as it relates to occupational safety and health, as well as providing expert advice to agency installations nationwide.

Responsibilities

Serve as a scientific researcher, involved in industrial hygiene scientific studies of various emerging public health issues and problems that adversely affect the health and safety of people in the workplace.

Initiate and maintain contacts with other industrial hygienists, epidemiologists, health scientists, engineers, physicians, statisticians and other research personnel who are involved in common areas of research.

Author or coauthor manuscripts or technical reports reflecting the results of the research and arranges for publication of such documents.

Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or

A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or
