UX Writer Intern (Remote)

The Team
The UX Writer intern will work with product, design, and research across Indeed’s SMB team, which includes people in Seattle, Austin, San Francisco, and Tokyo. Our goal for UX Content is to support the most usable, consistent, inclusive, and delightful experience for employers. Our team is expected to deliver results and demonstrate the impact we have on our users’ success.

Your Job
As a UX Writer Intern, you’ll apply your passion for creating clear, concise, transparent, and on-brand copy to a specific, new product feature/funnel for job seekers and employers. You’ll assist users by helping write clear instructions, intuitive labels, and compelling calls to action. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude will ensure success when you engage with partners from multiple disciplines (design, research, product management) on your team.

  • Write a combination of clear, concise, usable, and useful user interface text, page content, and emails adhering to brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to explain products/tools to end-users in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Develop and grow skills and knowledge around the application of writing best practices that support SEO, ADA requirements, legal, compliance, and localization.
  • Adapt desktop copy to mobile-specific formats and best practices. 
  • Incorporate learnings from analytics data and usability testing into the development of content.
  • Manage deadlines and deliverables across concurrent projects.

About You
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, journalism, advertising, marketing or other relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to it after the internship.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading experience, such as writing website content, writing for a school newspaper, managing social media or emails for a company, etc.
  • Passionate advocate of user-centered writing.
  • Understanding of design principles, web writing best practices and how content fits into the user experience.
  • Collaborative approach to solving problems.
  • Some knowledge of A/B testing, usability testing and web analytics.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles.
