Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking motivated college students with a strong work ethic for our summer internship program. Our internship is designed to provide the tools and resources necessary to understand and experience all aspects of construction safety within the specialty construction industry.

Through close mentorship and hands-on activities throughout the summer, PCI provides interns with real-world experience that develops their understanding of workplace safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, and field operations.

Examples of tasks to be completed during the internship:

• Assist with implementation of PCI's corporate safety program
• Participate in job site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
• Observe and support daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions
• Learn OSHA regulations and industry safety best practices
• Assist with incident investigations and documentation
• Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Help maintain accurate and timely safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
• Track and monitor safety metrics, observations, and corrective actions
• Work directly with project teams, field employees, subcontractors, and safety professionals to promote a strong safety culture
• Assist with employee onboarding and safety orientation programs
• Learn how safety impacts productivity, quality, and overall project success
• Support emergency preparedness and site-specific safety planning efforts
• Understand and demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Gain exposure to industrial hygiene, environmental health, and regulatory compliance initiatives
• Observe construction operations to ensure adherence to company safety standards and procedures

This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction safety while contributing to PCI's commitment to ensuring every employee returns home safely each day.

Performance Contacting provides hourly wage, relocation reimbursement and corporate housing option for all interns. Upon completion of the internship, each intern receives an evaluation that is used for consideration for future employment opportunities with the company.

Basic Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled student seeking a Construction Management, Construction Engineering or comparable degree

Minimum Requirements:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work in team environment

Customer service skills

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to multitask
