Adaptive Sports Student Manager

Summary

UW Recreation is thrilled to announce the launch of our Adaptive Sports Program, housed under Intramurals. We are seeking a Student Manager for both our wheelchair basketball team and to-be-created wheelchair tennis team.

The position would work roughly 5-7 hours a week for fall, winter and spring quarters. This position is paid, starting at $21.51/hour.

This is a tremendous opportunity for self-starter individuals who love sports and are looking to gain experience in athletics, sports and event management, recreation or education.

Department Description  

UW Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Life. We provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. UW Recreation serves over one million students, faculty, and staff each academic year through informal and formal recreation, including fitness and sports classes, intramural and club sports, outdoor education, mindfulness programs, and more. 

Job Description  

Administrative tasks such as scheduling games, printing out scoresheets, checking the email account, etc.

Player-related tasks such as leading the Player Committee, assisting with recruitment, on-campus experience, etc.

Travel logistics such as transportation booking, lodging, etc.

Minimum Qualifications 

Must be a current UW student, at any level (can be undergrad, grad or PhD)

- Passion for sports, athletics and/or recreation

- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and orally

- Experience in organization of large-scale projects with many moving parts

- Ability to meet tight deadlines

- Skilled at floating between small tasks and big-picture ideas

- Self-starter; able to identify tasks and complete them yourself

Preferred Qualifications 

- PREVIOUS OR CURRENT UW INTRAMURALS STAFF

- Previous experience working in adaptive sports, athletics or recreation

- Event management experience
