Solar Safety Coordinator — Job Description
The Solar Safety Coordinator supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team by leading EHS efforts at assigned solar project sites. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving safety and compliance programs to help ensure adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Expected Responsibilities
- Support and maintain site EHS programs, compliance plans, and safety initiatives
- Partner with project and construction teams to promote a proactive safety culture
- Identify, evaluate, and help mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks
- Facilitate safety meetings, employee training, and EHS-related communications
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT, DOL, EPA, and industrial safety requirements applicable to the power-generation industry
- Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reports
- Work independently and collaboratively to support project safety objectives
- Perform additional safety-related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred, or at least three years of relevant safety, environmental, health, construction, or industrial experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to safely operate a company vehicle
- Ability to work effectively in an active solar construction/project-site environment
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety practices, and DOT/DOL/EPA compliance requirements
- Familiarity with safety requirements in power generation, solar, construction, or other industrial environments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, project teams, and diverse groups
- Ability to lead or facilitate safety meetings and training sessions
- Strong organizational, planning, recordkeeping, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality
