Are you currently enrolled in at least 9 units of schooling?  Looking for some part-time work to get you through the semester – or even beyond?  Are you available for some on-site work on Tuesdays or Fridays, with the option to work additional hours from home?

NOTE: Although the classification is called ‘Youth Aid’, this position is open to all ages, so long as you meet the school enrollment requirement!

We are hiring for a part time employee to help us with file digitization efforts. The Youth Aid  (YA) will scan historical regulatory records, including permit applications that may have large maps and multiple sizes/types of paper records, and save them as electronic records. The YA will then save the electronic records with specific naming conventions and upload them into our database to be accessible to all. Other projects and tasks assigned as needed.

About the Central Valley Flood Protection Board:

The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) is a regulatory agency underneath the umbrella of the California Natural Resources Agency and is a sister agency to the Department of Water Resources (DWR).  While DWR advertises vacancies on our behalf, we are separate from DWR, with our own critical roles and responsibilities.  CVFPB is a legislatively mandated permitting and enforcement entity, charged with overseeing flood project construction and public safety within the Central Valley floodways and levee systems, as well as with the review, adoption and implementation of the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan.  More information about the CVFPB organization and mission may be viewed at http://cvfpb.ca.gov.

Special Requirements

Ability to lift 10-15 lbs.; push, pull, move boxes; ability to learn to use new office equipment; must be able to traverse parking lot with boxes of permit files.


All applicants for Youth Aid positions must meet the following departmental eligibility requirements: 

  1. Enrolled full-time in high school or in nine (9) semester/eight (8) quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students. 
  2. Achieved a 2.0 grade point average in the most recently completed academic term.
  3. If Applicant is under 18 years of age, must possess an appropriate work permit required by the California State Education Code.

Youth Aids must be enrolled in at least 9 units to be hired/continue employment. Unofficial Transcripts must be submitted with application; additionally, official transcript will be required if offered the position.
