Basic Function –
Join the team behind the team and provide direct support to the University of Washington Football program and Football Equipment staff in daily laundry operations. Ensure all football related apparel, uniforms, and towels are cleaned, maintained, and ready for use according to team schedules.
Job Duties – (100%)
- Operate commercial laundry equipment to wash, dry, and put away football practice gear, uniforms, towels, and loops
- Sort, mark, and prepare soiled laundry for washing, applying proper washing and drying techniques for specialized athletic fabrics
- Pick up and/or deliver laundry between the football equipment room, coaches’ and staff locker rooms and the laundry room as needed.
- Apply special treatments to stains using specialized chemicals and equipment for stain removal.
- Prioritize workflow to meet the football program’s daily practice, travel, and game-day timelines
- Provide routine maintenance on laundry equipment and help maintain a clean, sanitary workspace.
- Perform related duties as required by the Football Equipment staff.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Minimum Requirements –
Six months of experience in a commercial laundry OR three months of experience in a large institutional or large commercial laundry. Completion of a training course in washroom operations may substitute for two months of experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.
Additional Requirements –
Must have a valid Washington Driver License. Must be able to perform unaided, repetitive heavy lifting of approximately 25lbs. Required physical abilities include reaching, pushing, and pulling of laundry carts. Ability to work independently and be available for a minimum of a 4-hour time block between 12:00pm – 4pm and/or 8pm – 12am.
Desired –
Knowledge and experience in the operation of large institutional washers and dryers. Familiarly with athletic apparel fabric, stain removal and the cleaning of football uniforms and gear. Strong attention to detail, dependability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
