We’re Smirk UW, a student-run news media organization helping UW students find friends, community, and resources. We run an Instagram account dedicated to posting UW-related news, opportunities, and other tips for students like you! We’re currently hiring new writers to join our content team. No experience necessary, but graphic design skills are a definite bonus. 

SmirkUW is part of the Office of Student Publications, which also houses The Daily, HUA Voice, and Husky Media Group.

Key requirements

  • Strong eye for design 
  • Ability to meet weekly deadlines
  • Ability to follow design style guidelines
  • Creativity and collaboration
  • Must be able to attend general meetings in-person (we’ll work with your schedule)
  • Graduating 2028 or later

Job responsibilities

  • Create designs for 2–3 Instagram posts per week
  • Collaborate with Smirk team to generate weekly content ideas for UW student body

This position is to start around Week 5 of Fall quarter 2025. Despite the required pay number above, payment will be made per post on a freelance basis.
