Job Description
The Disability Resources for Students (DRS) Office seeks a student hourly assistant to assist in providing direct accommodation services in various DRS services including:
- Specialized furniture placement
- Alternative testing accommodations
- Answering emails with student, staff, and instructor inquiries
- Data processing and reporting for quarterly operations
- Coordinating final exam details

About DRS
Disability Resources for Students (DRS) is a unit within the Division of Student Life. DRS is dedicated to ensuring access and inclusion for all students with disabilities on the Seattle campus enrolled in our undergraduate, graduate, professional, Evening Degree and Access programs. DRS serves 6,000+ students with either temporary or permanent physical, health, learning, sensory or psychological disabilities. We partner with students and faculty jointly in the process of establishing accommodations, services, and access to academic programs.

Supervision
This position will report to Academic Services Manager.
Job Hours and Pay for Hourly Employee
15-19.5 hours a week, M-F, $23.22 per hour.
Work hours are during DRS operating hours; Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., but this position's hours of operation vary during finals week, the first week of the quarter, breaks and summer session. Ideal candidates would be able to at least commit to work an entire academic year and portions of academic breaks.
Responsibilities
Program Administration
- Maintain accurate records of furniture; work in established office program databases.
- Assist in planning for high-volume alternative testing days by analyzing data and communicating with manager
- Assist the Supervisor in onboarding/training new Testing Center Student Assistants
Direct Accommodation Delivery
- Work with manager to place accessible furniture across UW Seattle campus.
- Work directly with DRS students, faculty, and instructors explaining the process of the testing center and classroom access services.
- Respond to requests and inquiries related to all aspects of the DRS office by phone, email, or in-person communication
Accommodation Services Support
- Maintain confidential, accurate, and detailed records in myDRS, in accordance with office and University policies and procedures.
- Perform copying, scanning, faxing, and organizing as needed.
Other
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, administration and students.
- Assist in other duties and complete special projects at the direction of the Academic Services Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Computer skills include working with spreadsheets and word processing.
- Physical ability to safely lift, build, and move furniture up to 50lbs with a teammate.
- Ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with students, staff, and faculty.
- Independent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail; proven dedication to accuracy in each task performed.
Desirable
- Experience working with and analyzing large quantities of data in Excel.
- Experience working with students and/or adults with disabilities.
- Experience in and familiarity with higher education.
- Pattern of excellent attendance and punctuality in prior positions.
Skills and/or Knowledge Position May Acquire
- Knowledge of state and federal laws as they pertain to students with disabilities in higher education.
- Knowledge of the different student populations working with Disability Resources for Student.
- Understanding of how students with disabilities use technology to gain access to content.
- Experience working in a team to accomplish detail‐oriented work in a short period of time.
